App doesnt open in ios8
Lost access to current issues and library. Restore iTunes Purchases doesn’t work. App developer support only able to address by providing account to sign in to app.
Works much better now. Content is great
No way to login to digital subscription. The app’s help has more to do with content creation rather than using the magazine. The digital subscription is clearly an afterthought with no thought of maintaining the application.
The magazine looked amazing on first look, but the app reviews made me very hesitant. In the end I’m thrilled I opted for the online and paper subscription. The app works just like other main brand magazines and is beautiful - functionality even from a mobile phone is fine (just like any other reputable magazine) and the content is awesome. I did have a glitch after first subscribing where I could not download the first month’s subscription but after emailing customer service I couldn’t believe how fast they reacted and ensured I could read this issue - they responded within a handful of minutes to my email and about an hour later everything was working fine. Some of the best customer service I’ve experienced with a vendor - not sure why other has such problems, but according to Imbibe folks just don’t reach out to them and instead just complain. Imbibe customer service in my experience has been extremely fast, helpful, and overall makes me very confident in my purchase. I can’t wait for my next issue and would think this is an awesome resources for cocktail aficionados to industry professionals. Imbibe, thank you for such a great experience!
At least I’m getting the printed version.
The login process, after paying for a subscription, is mind-numbing, nonsensical, and nonfunctional. Navigating the actual app feels like a decade old website. I will be asking for the $5 extra I paid for digital access to be refunded. AWFUL.
I love imbibe in terms of content but this app is AWFUL. And they don't give you the digital subscriptions you've paid for....
Digital subscription is not immediately. It’s been close to a week after the purchase and they say the payment hasn’t been posted so content will not be ready to show ok the account. My credit card has been already charged. They keep telling me after a week I will be able maybe to se the content
I purchased a digital subscription on their website, but am unable to view any content after logging in. Called support and they told me to wait “until Thursday” for it to activate. Who ever heard of such a thing? Purchasing digital content that you don’t get immediate access to? Well, here we are a week and a half after I purchased a subscription, yet I still don’t have access to anything. I guess I got ripped off?
Wish I had seen all these reviews before I purchased a 2-year digital subscription. I’ve read the print edition for years and loved it, but this app is completely non-functional. It won’t even let me login. It won’t even say “incorrect password”... it just reloads the page without logging in. If I try other methods, such as entering my name and address, it says “account not found”, even though I HAVE AN EMAIL WITH A LINK TO MY DIGITAL SUBSCRIPTION. If I try to look up my account by using my account number, there aren’t even enough spaced to enter in all the numbers!! What a joke.
Please fix your app. I purchased this in hopes that the reviews were exaggerated. However, all the reviews are correct that this is not user friendly. I am disappointed as a customer that there has not been a response to these complaints. Work on it.
This app on both the iphone and ipad is horribly maintained and the process of “logging in” as a subscriber is probably the worst experience I’ve ever had on a subscription-based app. The hard copy of this magazine is quite possibly a great joy, but considering the app seems to lose my login every few weeks and then Imbibe randomly changes my password every single login and then sends it to me in email after the fact - it’s impossible to tell at any given moment if I will actually be able to read an issue of Imbibe on any iDevice. Do yourself a favor and just skip this app and subscribe to the magazine if you’re an industry pro.
The app allows me to register my print subscription, and recognizes that I do, in fact, have a print subscription. But once I “Log In”, the app doesn’t recognize that I’m logged in, and requires me to purchase individual issues to view them.
The zoom does not go all the way in to "column-width" or further, making the text quite small and difficult, if not impossible, to read on the iPhone. Probably not so bad on the iPad, but I wouldn't know since I don't have one. I would subscribe if it was readable on iPhone, but as is it's not so glad I only bought one to try it first. Also, why no Google Play version available??
Great magazine. Long time hard copy reader. Bought the iPhone 6 plus to easily take the subscription on the road. But the pages STILL don't fit the screen appropriately and the zoom function is non-existent. PLEASE UPDATE SOON
App doesn't open in ios8
Generally I love imbibe. Been a reader for two years. I've liked the digital version. Now that I've upgraded to iOS 8 I can't seem to get it to work properly.
Please fix this will work with iPhone 5s but not iPad retina. Terrible experience.
I love the content, but reading images of print pages is a terrible experience. Also, I haven't been able to open the app on my iPad3 since iOS8.
I'm a long time reader of imbibe magazine, and I've always been a fan of the content, but it is unfortunately very difficult to consume in this context. The app will only allow you to zoom in a small amount, making it all but impossible to read an article comfortably. If this was fixed, I'd happily give this app 5 stars.
Has anyone at imbibe tried to use the ios app? There is no way to create a login profile, no help, no contact us. I guess I'll just post here for the world to see...fix the app!
Love the magazine, but since the software update its now asking me to purchase this months magazine even though I have a current subscription. They have a couple of days to figure it out or I'm canceling my auto renew.
For some reason, my review didn't appear. I wrote the piece above because I realized I didn't touch on the content. My previous review dealt with the interface. Its just not good. They deleted all back issues from my library with the promise that they'll reappear in the future. Why not just wait until they're all online before switching over? Secondly, there is a new feature or section in the app called "Live" and it's got all this content that iPad/iPhone users can't access because it's Flash based. I guess since they created the app for the app store and iPads only account for 75% of the market, they thought… I can't imagine why they went to the trouble to do it. Anyhow, I think it's a waste of money considering it's in addition to your print subscription. Just buy the magazine.
Same as everyone else, I'm a print subscriber. I won't pay for a digital one, too.
Have been a satisfied print subscriber to Imbibe since the early issues. The double-charging for content here needs resolution. What a waste of what would be great digital content.
I can't seem to figure out whether I can receive the digital subscription with a print subscription. Judging from the comments I am assuming I cannot. I tried to contact pixelmags about this issue and they couldn't have been less helpful or more rude.
I have had a print subscription to this mag since its inception. I can't believe I would have to pay to read it on my phone! Boo!
I don't know if it's a limitation of the pixel mags format or a business decision by imbibe. But there is no excuse not to make the digital version free with a print subscription. I was given the print edition as a gift and downloaded the app, excited to try it out, only to find no option to link up my subscription, and no explanation in any of the support material or on Imbibe's website. Coming from years of happy reading of Wired in print and on tablets, this just seems archaic and capricious.
They want to charge you twice for the same content.
I am a huge fan of Imbibe magazine but I am very disappointed in this app. I have already paid for a print subscription; why should I be made to pay again for the same content? I'm afraid I won't be using this app until this changes.
This seems to be the current trend, but I hate that I don't have access to the digital version automatically when I'm a print subscriber.
This should be a favorite app, since I love magazines on my iPad and I love Imbibe. Unfortunately, the text is fuzzy when reading in landscape unless zoomed in, it almost looked as if the last bit of progressive rendering hasn't filled in. I'm also disappointed as a print subscriber not to have any options other than paying full price for the iPad edition.
